SLIF is a Christian Fellowship bringing together single ladies in Nairobi. It is perhaps the only initiative in Kenya directly focusing on the plight of single ladies. Members come from different church denominations. The term single lady apply to 5 (five) ‘categories’ of women as stated under membership herein. Unmarried mothers make up more than 50% of the whole group.
Our Main Objectives are
- To assist unskilled single ladies to start small-scale business.
- To challenge single ladies to live upright to their dignity, work hard and be responsible.
- To assist single ladies who are jobless to get employment by creating an employment bureau.
- To hold teaching seminars and workshops where professionals will teach the single ladies on various topics i.e.
- Single ladies empowerment to discover their potential.
- Aids counseling and health issues.
- Single ladies rights and their children.
- Food and nutrition etc.
- The fellowship is non-political.
- The fellowship has no intention of becoming a church.
- The fellowship is non-profit making.
- If need be, branches can be opened at provincial levels in future.
Membership
DEFINITION: The definition is single ladies as intended by the fellowship includes: -spinsters, widows, single mothers, separated ladies and divorced.
- Any single lady falling in the above definition shall be eligible for membership.
- Membership is free and voluntary.
- There shall be an open membership register.
- Every member shall be required to participate fully in the fellowship’s activities e.g. voluntary contribution of money, food and clothing for the needy single ladies in the fellowship.
- Any member who involves herself in politics or misbehavior that will affect the reputation and dignity of the fellowship shall be expelled
